Using GrowLocal is straight forward, all you need to do is register to have access to those whom are registered on the GrowLocal network. One can either use the private messaging function or email members through the link on their profile page. The forum titled "Notices specific to locality" is there to post notices regarding the sharing of seeds, plants etc.

So say a member offers something you like, contacting  them through email or private messaging ensures they receive your response directly as a opposed to posting it on the forum itself. They become aware of your interest without the need to check the boards to see if anybody has responded. A members email address is only known if they respond to anothers request, or have emailed another member.
